This high-level policy dialogue brought together key government, academia and civil society actors in Nigeria to elevate governance advocacy, cooperation and momentum on frontier AI issues. Participants will assess government readiness and evaluate capacities, coordination, and cooperation, and formulate strategies to strengthen national resilience and sovereignty in a rapidly evolving AI landscape.

The discussion centered on how the African region can effectively participate in safe, trusted AI governance, focusing on catastrophic and dual-use AI risks. Insights are shared on current efforts and progress on the continent to ensure safety and trust, as well as on framing catastrophic and dual-use AI risks. The discussion also provided insights into improving stakeholder governance engagement and ideas for strengthening cooperation and coordination.
